Building upon the tremendous success, reputation, and loyal clientele of their
restaurant on Miami Beach's famous Lincoln Road, Balans is in the process of creating
a new restaurant on Miami's up-and-coming Biscayne Boulevard. The proposed design concept is scheduled to be completed and operational by the Summer of 2008.

Biscayne Boulevard is a primary corridor leading to Downtown Miami, Miami Beach, and Miami
International Airport and is now undergoing a radical transformation similar in nature to
that of Lincoln Road in the mid 1990's. The Boulevard is flanked by historic neighborhoods
to the east and up-and-coming neighborhoods to the west. In close proximity to the Balans
location is the Design District (populated by designer showrooms, galleries, and cafes)
and the Wynwood District (populated by avant-garde galleries, artists' studios, and cafes).
A little to the south is a world class soon-to-be completed Performing Arts Center and of
course, Downtown Miami. Balans is located at the intersection of Biscayne Boulevard and
NE 68th Street which has a historic designation.

The building will be a brand new custom designed two-story mixed-use facility which will comprise Balans restaurant,
a coffee shop, and a convenience store all on the ground floor with residential units on the first floor.
The 190 sm restaurant space and 172 sm covered outdoor dining area will accommodate 200 covers. Next to the
restaurant will be a 111 sm combination coffee-shop and convenience store where patrons will be able to grab a
quick cup of coffee and a newspaper or magazine from a wide selection. In addition, they will be able to purchase
sundries, toiletries, cigarettes, etc. The concept for the design of the restaurant is being developed to acknowledge
the following criteria: Use of natural materials, creation of an intimate 'upscale-casual' atmosphere, recognition of
the urban location and surrounding cultural / artistic environment and the incorporation of sustainable design materials
and strategies. Our moniker for this look is 'Urban Zen'.
