FYIFrida Kahlo At The V&A

For someone so well known for her sense of style, it’s extraordinary to think that the new exhibition at the V&A, opening on the 16th June will be the first time that Frida Kahlo’s personal artefacts and clothing will be seen. Locked away for 50 years after her death, this collection has never been viewed outside Mexico.

Handpainted corsets, skirts, sunglasses, photos, cosmetics and not forgetting the prosthetic leg with the bright red boot she herself designed all show how, in intimate detail, she carefully constructed her persona and became an utterly compelling countercultural and feminist symbol.
